As the Director of Ministry Safety for our agency, I am dedicated to finding ways to help safeguard ministries like yours.
One of the most common challenges churches share with me is the lack of funding for security infrastructure such as camera systems, radios, access control systems, and training. One way that churches are covering these expenses is by taking advantage of the Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP) that is available through the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
Sometime in the next two weeks, DHS and FEMA are expected to release the Fiscal Year (FY) 2021 Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP) Notice of Funding Opportunity. The NSGP provides funding support for security-related and physical security enhancements to nonprofit organizations. The NSGP promotes emergency preparedness coordination and collaboration activities between public and private community representatives as well as state, local, and tribal government agencies.

On February 18, 2021, the DHS Center for Faith and Opportunity Initiatives is hosting a webinar from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. (ET) to provide information, tips and guidance on how to apply for the NSGP, and other Department of Homeland Security (DHS) resources that support the safety and security of houses of worship, non-profits and faith and community-based organizations. In addition, you will hear perspectives from faith and community leaders about the NSGP and ways you can keep your facilities safe and secure.
Reserve your spot for the DHS webinar today.
The webinar is being hosted using Adobe Connect. I would recommend Testing your Adobe Connect prior to the meeting. You may need to update or install software to access the audio-visual content.

There are a lot of hats worn in any growing ministry – and we want to serve every one of them.
With the holiday season right around the corner, it’s wise for ministries to evaluate their fire safety plan. Whether your ministry is hosting a holiday party, prepping treats for charity, or running a community kitchen, make sure you’re well-prepared with these tips.
The holidays present unique opportunities and challenges for churches that aren’t typical during other times of the year. A lot of the ministries that I work with are seeing steady increases in attendance and are praying for a significant jump in Christmas service participation this year.
In this article, Brad Brown from Plan A Wealth Management gives a wonderful insight into why ministries might consider choosing a 403(B)(9) retirement plan.
