Updating the lighting in your worship center with LED can offer significant energy savings while improving overall lighting performance. When compared to incandescent or halogen technologies, today's LED lighting products are far more efficient, longer lasting, and can reduce both your facility's maintenance costs and air conditioning load.
Done correctly, LED technology allows you to improve your lighting while simultaneously lowering your energy consumption - it is a classic win, win.
And that is what we at Voss have worked to provide for our customers since 1939. Customers such as Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship in Dallas, TX, who in 2020, commissioned Voss to replace the lights in their 30-year-old, 3,000+ seat auditorium. When the auditorium was constructed, halogen lamps were installed for the general lighting. Consequently, five times per year the church paid several thousand dollars to rent a specialized lift to change out the prematurely dimmed and burnt-out lamps to maintain the light levels.
In the Fall of 2020, with a substantial number of the lights in the auditorium no longer working, Oak Cliff decided to partner with Voss to make the change to LED. All the existing can lighting was retrofitted to LED. The 500-watt halogens over the main area were replaced with 60 Watt LEDs, and the 250-Watt halogens over the balcony were replaced with 30 Watt LEDs. This resulted in an average energy savings of over 85% per can while improving the overall light levels. The church's annual energy costs were substantially reduced, making funds available for more facility upgrades and/or ministry efforts.
Over the past few years LED technology has progressed to offer solutions for most sources of general lighting found in churches. If you would like more information specific to your facility, please contact Randy Herrick from Voss Lighting at 402-850-9789 or 402-592-1930.

There are a lot of hats worn in any growing ministry – and we want to serve every one of them.
With the holiday season right around the corner, it’s wise for ministries to evaluate their fire safety plan. Whether your ministry is hosting a holiday party, prepping treats for charity, or running a community kitchen, make sure you’re well-prepared with these tips.
The holidays present unique opportunities and challenges for churches that aren’t typical during other times of the year. A lot of the ministries that I work with are seeing steady increases in attendance and are praying for a significant jump in Christmas service participation this year.
In this article, Brad Brown from Plan A Wealth Management gives a wonderful insight into why ministries might consider choosing a 403(B)(9) retirement plan.
